Beginner / entry level: $40K–$60K
Starting out, whether through freelance marketplaces like Upwork or early local clients, expect to earn on the lower end. Building a portfolio and a referral network takes time.
Mid-level (3–7 years experience): $65K–$100K
Once you have a steady client base and a defined niche, rates rise significantly. At this stage, many freelancers add branding, SEO, and content development to their services, increasing the value per project.
Experienced solo designer / studio owner: $100K–$150K+
Established freelance designers with strong referral networks and premium positioning can command project fees in the range of $10K–$25K+ per engagement. A full branding-plus-website project at this level can take eight weeks and price accordingly.
